Library Bonds

The Friends encourage all eligible voters to study state and county Library Bond proposals, consider the community benefits, and vote.

  • Generally every four years, the State of New Mexico seeks voter approval to create and sell a Government Obligation (“GO”) Bond. If approved by the voters, GO Bond sale proceeds are typically proportionately distributed to municipal libraries and public school libraries in New Mexico.
  • Also generally every four years, Sandoval County seeks voter approval to create and sell a Library Improvements Bond.

How does our community benefit from libraries? The following downloadable documents from 2010 provide some specifics: What Good Libraries Mean for Sandoval County, and Rio Rancho public library statistics for January-December 2009.
