Library Bonds, Locations & Programs
The Friends encourage eligible voters to study Library Bond proposals, consider their benefits to our community, and vote.
Generally every four years, the State of New Mexico seeks voter approval to create and sell a GO (“Government Obligation”) Bond. If approved by the voters, proceeds from the sale of said bond are proportionately distributed to municipal libraries and public school libraries in New Mexico.
Also, every four years, Sandoval County seeks voter approval to create and sell Library Improvements Bond.
On November 2, 2010, both bonds appeared on the ballot in Sandoval County. The following downloadable documents provided some specifics regarding the Sandoval County Library Improvements Bond and Rio Rancho Public Libraries: PRESS_RELEASE_2010, Voter Information Sheet, What Good Libraries Mean for Sandoval County, and Rio Rancho public library statistics for January-December 2009.
