Don Wolf

Don Wolf is a well respected New Mexico photographer who has had exhibitions in Santa Fe, Taos, Albuquerque, New York, Jerusalem, and in San Miguel Allende, Mexico, where he also did photojournalism.  His work appeared seven times in Photographer’s Forum, “Best of Photography Annual”, and he has won awards in the Salmagundi National Photography Exhibition in New York and in “Magnifico” at the Albuquerque Museum.

Paul Weideman wrote in the Santa Fe New Mexican, “Don frequents the streets in the early morning seeking images that possess a touch of irony or the surreal.”  He goes on to write, “Many of Wolf’s photographs remind the viewer of Henri Cartier-Bresson’s focus on the ‘decisive moment’, and indeed the French photographer is one of the models for Wolf’s camera strategy.”

John Villani wrote in the Santa Fe New Mexican, “Wolf’s ease with his art form and subject matter are clearly evident through this work.  And his sense of composition, like that of a trained artist, speaks volumes for the interesting aspects of everyday life.”

Wolf is primarily a street photographer whose photos reflect a keen eye for the juxtaposition of incongruous elements.  He does his own printing using a full frame format that lets others share exactly what he saw in his viewfinder.
